Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then found many other marked cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police say preliminary tests suggest the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking political figure said the attack rendered him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
